I use one of those $6 soft lunch bags from Wal Mart to store my battery in my Pro Explorer inside my front hatch. It works great. It has never fallen over. It has a zipper top so it protects your battery. It also has a side pocket that I keep extra connectors, fuses, and a crimp/wire cutting tool in case I need to make any repairs. The same setup would work on your Drifter as well.
