I wanted to hit Big Sur today, but the swell report was a bit rowdy so I opted for the local haunts off Westcliff in Santa Cruz. Launched in the early am to fish the kelp beds and sand for Halibut. Caught a few barely sublegal lings, 6 dinky gopher rockfish, and 1 large ling (all released)... Paddled out over the sand to fish for halibut... Ended up getting 1 bite and no takers. The fishing was slow, but hey, what can I say, another beautiful day out on the water...
