I like the way it was written. Easy to understand and to visualize. I've heard people say wait for "10 secs" after you feel the fish begin to bite, then set the hook. I've never been a big believer of the 10 second "set the hook" rule. That may work for some fish some of the time. But to blanket that across the board with every halibut you come across.....I know I wouldn't land as many if I tried to set the hook while using live or fresh dead bait, using the 10 second rule. Though I also know what happens when you wait too long. I like how he explained the various possibilities and how to handle or adjust to them. The halibut need time to chew, but if they feel that hook and it doesn't set itself, the flatty will usually spit it out.

Using lures requires a totally different set of rules.
