Team Sabritas (if you ever tried them you would know) went to Puerto Nuevo today. In an ammendment to the Team Sabritas constitution we have decided to change the name from the Baja Noodlers to Team Sabritas, and also voted to make the day's jackpot winner the official poster of the trip. We had the most unbelievable weather this morning to paddle into. We got an earlier start than usual and left home for Mex at 4. Drove down and kept an eye for a secret spot we are eyeballing. We know where it is now, just need to figure out a way to get there. Got our usual help this morning from the locals, these guys (pangueros) really love to see our kayaks there, not just on the beach but also out in the water. We are always greeted with waves, smiles and upmost courtesy on the water. We launched into a very small surf, but as usual the two reef breaks on either side of our launch were pumping, so still the need to exercise caution. Paddling out we ran into a bunch of shoals of bait, the sea was glass, and the paddle out was a piece of cake, except for the fact that a few hundred yards out i realized i left my battery in the back of Senor Hielos' truck (someone stole it while we were gone) so no fish finder, but i remembered the reefs visualy from last time. When we got out there, there was no wind and no current and absolutely no drift at all. This stayed this way for quite some time, but once the wind picked up, it started look frighteninghly familiar (Salsipuedes). So we started to make our way back in. Upon arriving at the beach, we were greeted by some pangueros arriving also, they had some WSB on board, small ones, but nonetheless whites. We got his number, and are considering mothershipping with him to the WSB spot, they say they get them all the time on Mackerel filets. Grand total catch: Al- 4 Sand Bass, 1 Red, 1 Cabezon, 2 Olive Rockfish, 1 Starry, 1 Ling. Greg- 1 Ling, 1 Cabezon. Phil- 4 Whitefish?. Andy- 1 Olive Rockfish. It was tough fishing, but great weather for the most part. Everyone made it back to the beach without issues, and then it was time for me to gross every one out by eating oysters, clams on the half shell, my infamous cocktails. Of course there are always tacos, the new fav carne asada quesadilla, and of course no trip would be complete without a dose of SABRITAS!!!!!!
