5a Yak Attack, Iceman, Cory, and I headed out on another Baja Noodler adventure. Salsipuedes was the destination and the weather looked good. After hiking down a gnarly trail with the yaks and all, we launched into some big shore break at 8:30a. We paddled 2 miles out following Yak Attacks fish finder looking for 175’ of water. We dropped lines and started hooking up. 2 lings, for myself, right off on a 3 oz white scampi (PROPERLY ASSEMBLED) then double reds on dropper loops of squid. Cory was hauling in lings and reds while releasing each one waiting for the father. Iceman was working hard on the bottom with a mac that he caught with the iron. Yak Attack had his usual packed stringer, putting fear in my mind that the “jack pot” ($15) was again in Al’s pocket. The wind started to blow supper hard out of the north/west and pushed 2 foot white caps over our bows. So, at 12 noon we took on the worst wind paddle I have ever done. It felt like you were paddling through mud. Back on shore Al and I watched Cory with an epic surf into shore. Final count – 7 lings (4 released), 10 (or so) reds, 2 white fish, and a bocaccio. I won the JP with a ling that barley beat Al’s bocaccio, yea $15. Thanks to all for a great trip. Greg.
