I tried out my new waders yesterday at Irvine Lake. I didn't know what to think until I got out of my kayak yesterday and took off my waders and was bone dry. I bought breathable waders online for $90.00 delivered. Lake water gets really cold and waders can really help extend the day. I did have a sensation that I was wet several times, but I was not, I think it was from the coldness of the water. I don't think I'll wear them in the ocean, cause the water and air temp doesn't get that cold but waders are definately great for lake fishing. When I was comming into shore I stepped off my kayak in 2-4 feet of water and the outside pressure of the water pushed the waders around my legs like a tight glove. With the belt on snuggly and the drawstring pulled sung around the top, no way will these thing flood. Wet, yes, but flood, nope.

My fishing was uneventful in that I had one good strike on the troll and caught my other fish with white powerbait. The first trout I caught was on the drift, the fish alarm went off and seconds later had my first trout. I paddled over to the boat ramp for the last couple hours and put powerbait on the bottom in about 10 feet of water. I was casting a gold kastmaster and I think the trout followed the kastmaster to my power bait because I had three hookups very quickly. I landed one and farmed the other two.

I posted information from the Irvine Tourney on yakfishing.com
