You seem to find so many sites I feel you might have seen this one. Endless discussions of rods and reels for anything you will ever do on this coast. Seems like most dont mind spending the big bucks as what they seem to reccommned I dont want to pay for. You can usually go lighter since your boat just gets pulled around. There is also a private boaters area that has reports from all over Cal, Kayak area as well as the tackle area. I have never fished a Newall (Penns and Shimanos).
