I live up in this area, and a few sharks have been spotted the past couple of years. I had a buddy who was surfing South of Half Moon Bay in the breakers of Pescadero and he said he saw one hit a seal right from the shore after he came in. The sharks frequent the area in the heaviest numbers during the late fall, winter and early spiring cuz all the elephant seals are mating and Ano Nuevo island and shore, which is just south of Half Moon Bay, is one of their main rookeries south of the Mendocino/Sonoma coastline. i have fished the Pescadero area from my kayak a few times, and have killed em. I usually go out near Pescadero lighthouse and fish around whalers rock. I often get large cabezon (9 lbs), reds, lingcod, china rockfish, and even the occasional halibut. The salmon come into this area but are usually too far out and goin out more than 1/4 mile in sharky areas is just asking for trouble. I'm planning a big sur trip sometime in the next month.. Companies definitely welcome.

: : Did anyone know there are Huge waves in Half Moon? I never heard of this place before. Anf fo the fishing aspect of this post: I would be a great place to catch a GW!. Oh Man used to hang out in half moon bay on occasion. Pumpkin fest comes to mind, seems I remember something about pumpkin ale :) Used to play in the surf there once and awhile. I think it is just out side the great white triangle, but not by much so it would not matter. The triangle is S.F. to the farrlons to Eureka. My Brother in law and sister had taken some biologists out years ago when they where doing a study on them. It seems that the Farrlon islands are a breeding ground for GW.
