: I just got this from back east. Gotta love the internet.I have been using the common folding-grapnel style anchor, with about 18" of chain and 4 to 1 or better scope. It has not been able to consistantly hold my 12'6" Fish N Dive kayak in the wind, swell/surge, and current off of Doheny or Laguna.I plan on diving from the Yak, and want it there when I get back LoL!I did some research and found this design, which has received fantastic reviews for holding kayaks and skiffs on anything from flat sand to rocks and mud. It supposedly releases easily, but I set it up with a single-line trip to release if needed, or if current/swell put dangerous tension on it.Cost was $9.95 for the anchor and $8.95 to ship it from New Jersey. It has a sticker on it reading "the manta" and a number 1.866.383.1888. It weighs 1 kilo, ~2.2 pounds. They claim it holds well with as little as 2 to 1 scope and doesn't need chain or other weight. We'll see. If it works anything less than fantastic I'll post.
