: Ya, that's right. Left the house at 2:45am to go hook up with a few friends in La Jolla. Super cool launch. Drive right up on the sand, drop the gear, and go park. Ceviche led the way and we followed. The guy's a fishing engineer....I'm serious. After a nice paddle past the reserve we made some bait. Fly lined some smelts for nothing. Though we got into a really nice sand bass bite. The FishTraps were getting slammed on the drop, though towards the bottom. My largest 22". A ton of incidental blue perch and one baracuda.Came back in without wrecking and proved to myself my Scupper TW is surfable. What a blast! I'm beat.Btw,I heard the Iceman was on the water but didn't get a chance to hook up. Next time.jas
I talked to John and Johnny but you guys were always a far paddle away. Jason you should come back down, end of May, beginning of June for a good shot at WSB. I don't think there will be much going on before then, with the effects of El Nino keeping the squid out of La Jolla. That is when they are spawning on the ridge that runs parallel to the kelp.
