Yah they have less beach waves, but nastier "wind waves" and rips. They fish shallow flats and river-mouths more, and i have read several stories of those guys getting dumped.

I have been dumped off my Navigator, which is why i bought a fish N dive, Nav is not stable for guys with my build. Great-non-bs-reviews at www.kayakfishingstuff.com, i couldn't find an accurate review on the west-coast sites, or I would have known not to buy a Nav in the first place!

I was wearing dry breathables with the waist straps un-done, went right in over my head and had to pop up, go get the yak, flip the yak and climb in. No problem.
I've read reports from others who have gone in, with the straps cinched like they sjould be, the waders float you pretty well, like a giant PFD.

If you also have a PFD on you would be styling.
I guess eventually the waders could maybe take on a gallon of water or two, which would of course be weightless in the water no factor, but have to be lifted out when you climbed back on the yak or whatever.

Say 10 extra pounds. I've seen some yak guys dealing with lots of extra pouinds pretty well!
For thier safety maybe they should ship some ballast!

LoL!

It's simply a non-issue. Wear what you like, for whatever reason you want, real or imagined.
...waders being unsafe in any way would definitely fall under "imagined"
