My uncle retired from fishing and gave a ton of equipment.I lost one of my better poles and reels in the January 1st fiasco and I will be looking at a new pole. I am very good at making equipment work that others laugh at. I took my kmart/walmart shakespeare 6-12lb spinning set up on a twilight sand bass party boat and out fished everyone on the boat in number of fish landed. One of the fishermen on the way out laughed at my pole and asked "who brought the kid's pole?" My children can tell you about days at Pyru from the aluminum rental boats catching 20+ sunfish in a couple hours, with bass in the mix, using closed faced Zebcos.My point is that I am trying to figure out if saving a few bucks with an Ugly Stick is worth it. They are half the price of the Seeker rods.Thanks for any help.-Ted
RE: They have some salmon/striper rods I have looked at; and yes, you can catch fish with them. right now I am running a catfish rod with my Penn Jigmaster and like it fine.
