: went to the pier and couldn't get a nibble so i launched @ the baby bay. metered some bait but it was too small to hook, plus i forgot my bait box with the extra small hooks #SAND! i was too proud to go to the bait barge so i kept @ it til i made a couple of smelt that were too large. dragged one up and down the channel for nothing but it was a beatuful day out! most importantly though, i tried out the new bait tank and it worked like charm. i did have a wierd glitch with the electrical system but after that it was all gravy :) no more strapping up the tank or forgetting it. happy days!Cliff A.

Hey Cliff,

Interior livewell? How the heck do you do that? Do you have a rear hatch that you close up when you're not using it? Can you just open the hatch to throw your bait in, and close it for safety. After seeing what happens when hatches are left open, I wouldn't keep them open longer then I had to.

I'd like to build one that would fit in a few different kayaks. What are you using for the tank?

I fished w/ Ceviche summer/fall time. He unloaded his kayak and then he unloaded what looked to be a vaccume cleaner. It was actually his bait tank. Just about every one I had seen prior to that was made from a cooler or a plastic storage box.
Has anyone gotten slammed in the surf with their bait tank on board? I'm just wondering how well they've come out of the pounding. Since most are homemade, I guess that's going to depend on how well someone made their own. I'm going to keep the surf in mind when I put one together.
