La Jolla New Years Day 2003

I fished with Jimm H. (pictured), Phreshwon, and Rick. At 7 am the surf was breaking in the street. The launch was challenging to say the least, but everybody made it through with out incident.

We fished north of Scrip’s pier (pictured) all morning. The swells were large and I would watch, as my FF would go from 40’ to 50’ as I rode up and down the incoming swell.

The fishing was slow for all except Jimm who did very well on Calico and sand bass.

This is the second or maybe third New Years day fishing trip for Jimm and me and I hope for many more, because I think of a better way to start out the New Year.

7 am till noon
1 sand bass @ 12”
blue & silver krock
High surf & swells
