I left home about 7:10 this morning. Dennis and his group was just wrapping up at Starbucks. I tagged along with them to County Line.

The surf was small but a good breeze was pushing west. Everyone made it out dry.

For what was supposed to be bad conditions and a slow day I managed to have a decent day. The wind was strong enough to skip drifting as the paddle back would have been tough. The smelt were thick and some were the size of 747's. Seacarp nailed a legal halibut on a big smelt and another legal was taken by Eric on a Storm swimbait.

Frozen squid treated me well today. Cut strips on a 0/2, on the bottom earned me a Cabazon, Sculpin, Sugar Bass and a big Bat Ray. I farmed a dozen others. I need sharper hooks.

I think I have just about pushed the limits of my spring suit. It was cold and if I didn't have a towel to cover up my legs I would have been done much earlier. I am sure glad I took my tandem out today.

One of the guys out today had one of those new Tarpon 120 Anglers. Looked like a nice kayak. A little short for me, but it still looked like a good fishing outfit.

It was cold, high clouds with the sun partially blocked, with very clear blue-green water in the mid 50s.

Lots of fun, I hope to get out again on Wednesday. I am going skiing on Monday. There is no place like Southern California. Kayak fishing on Saturday and Snow Skiiing on Monday.
