I can't say anything about the cobras because I havn't tried them. I tried the Drifter and was impressed with the stability and the large front hatch. The only trouble is you are sitting in about 5 gollons of water all the time. I guess scupper plugs would help, but that is kind of a lame fix for a pretty big design flaw. I havn't tried the Caper, but I understand it has a much drier ride than the drifter. It is only 11'long
so it might be fairly easy for you to load and un load as well as store and transport it. I almost bought a Drifter until some one said I should try the Malibu Kayaks Pro Explorer. When You first see the Pro Explorer you notice how massive the front hatch is. It also has a rectangular hatch right between your legs. This is very handy as you don't have to slide up to the bow to get your lunch or a camera. The yak is extremely stable. As steady as the Drifter, except the ride is bone dry. It is not a fast kayak. It is a very stable fishing platform. My daughter is 5'2" 100 lbs. I took her up to Sunset Beach To Malibu Ocean Sports
to try out a couple of Pro Explorers. She loved the Pro Explorer and was comfortable with it right away. She paddled the Scrambler XT and liked that. She liked the Pro Explorer more. It was more stable and alot drier. As you might have guessed I bought the Pro Explorer. The price can't be beat, and it comes with a lifetime warranty. I don't work for Malibu Ocean Sports, I'm just a satisfied customer.
