: : : While kayak fishing at La Jolla I have had the opportunity to see lots of different kinds of kayaks all in the same day, and the Tarpon is with out a doubt the best looking boat on the water.John I concur, the 16'tarpon is a really nice boat. I've had one for bunch of months now. I wrote a little comparison here on it and the tourer and scupper protw. Well recently I found myself renting out a scupper pro tw, after months of being in the tarpon and I couldn't be more pleased that I chose the tarpon. The most notable difference was stability, the tarpon is quite a bit more stable(it is a couple of inches wider). The cockpit is larger and more comfortable and the speed seems greater , but that aspect is a bit tougher to judge, as they are close. Yet the length and perhaps the wieght both contribute to a smoother ride. It does turn a bit slowly but if you go nice and easy it will turn with an additional couple of strokes(rather than trying to muscle the boat in a circle.) Just food for thought for those shopping this happy holiday season.Fishon,Seakarp
