: : this is the first time Im going to take my yak out on the ocean. I'm planning on going to king harbor on sunday. When I saw your post about the harbor I got excited. Tried to find tips on the net but no luck. I hear about the bait barge alot and would like to know exactly where it is located. Do they charge for live bait. I currently have fish trap and crocodile lures that I plan on using but what else should I use. Would squid be a good choice. I have a pro2 tandem so I'll be taking a friend. Have four rods available. Should I fish the bottom with squid and plastics or use the croc. any information is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

: If you stay in the harbor use 6-8lb.line and small hooks. There is a hand launch at Redondo right behind chillers the bait barge is to the right and in the middle of the harbour. Bait is $5.00 for a plano bucket full. There is a lot of bonito around but they dont always want to bite watch for birds and paddel to where they are diving. Also watch for other boats hooking up.You can also get sand bass, barricuda halibut and calico bass but sometimes you just have to spend the time trying oud differnt things. Also write hand launch on the back of your parking stub and it is 4$for 8hrs. Jack

johnny- what size hooks do you recommend and where is the best place to launch my yak. would crocodiles and fish traps work. As for live bait do I hook them carolina style. thanks for your info
