Tommy and I were just going out to do some fishing. We didn't even know they were going to be there. When I saw the zodiac w/ the camera crew, I recognized Michael Fowlkes from the program. Everyone signed release forms before going out. Since I was there post release form handout, it's possible that Mike didn't air much of the footage w/ me in it. He did go out of his way to get a release from Tommy after the day on the water. I guess my footage wasn't as exciting as Scotty W. talking about how the hooking incident was basically justified in the name of an "extreme sport". Rediculous comments. Though I am no John Wayne in front of the camera, I'm sure some of the footage of me fighting a monster would have been less offensive to a lot of the kayak anglers.
I would gladly give up any footage w/ me in it for a 3 minute side segment discussing the negligence of the kayak fisherman trolling a lane directly in front of the guy hooked up on a shark. THe ocean is kinda big enough. The sharks weren't just underneath Tommy. But he had to troll right on top of the guy hooked up.
And no, I won't forget about the incident. I had to bite my tongue until it bled that day just to keep from discussing this matter on the water that day. The only lesson given was by Rhino. He took the time to talk to the group after the incident happened hopefully preventing a future mishap and potential tragedy.
Rhino knew the ocean was big enough to spread out and still be successful. Rhino was way out of the picture when that went down.
