It does look similar to the salp chain you directed me to. I'm not saying that what I saw wasn't that. But what I saw did look different a bit. The sacks had red in the center and various other colors and textures which resembled that of a chicken embryo or one of the "pre chick" stages.
Maybe the coloring in the center has to do w/ the local diet.
