With 28 years in industrial electronics, that is acturally a pretty wide operating range for a lower cost piece of electronics equipment (basically, Freezing to 104 deg. F). To achieve wider operating ranges on electronics requires special component selection, especially in the CCD and LCD of the camera and the batteries. As temperature is also interlocked with humidity in electronics, the camera may operate at higher temperatures if the humidity is low.
For operation below freezing, you will probably have to go back to film.
