| I had an idea for a fishing rod holder that you wouldn't need to drill holes or any thing. You could take a piece of pvc and put it into the scupper. I'm not sure on the diameter of the scupper. then you could get an adaptor to adapt a 2 in pvc to the size of the scupper. |

| Scuppers are typically the weakest part of yaks, so I would not recommend putting anything in them that would cause excess wear and tear. |

That's a great idea. Be sure to take lots of photos so you can show everyone what you came up with.
Don't always listen to the advise on this board (except maybe Jim Day). The folks on this board are old men with more money than time. As a young man, you have more time than money, so it make sense for you to Jerry-Rig your fishing boat.
Garage sales and Flea Markets are great places to get stuff cheap. If you can get labor work with a plumber who likes to fish, he will be a great source of raw material and great ideas. I was lucky to have a scuba diving neighbor who was a plumber. He helped me and a couple friends make a lot of our gear from scrap and spare parts for very little money. He also employed us for cash jobs to buy the stuff we could not make, like tanks and regulators. We made our spear poles, Ab irons, weight belts, game bags, stringers. He helped us find good deals on used equipment.
Keep your ears open and eyes peeled. _________________ Howard |

I would never recommend putting anything in the scupper holes. They are "weak" and hard to repair.
You could however use extension tubes for you front rod-holders is that's working for you,
I'm currently busy with thinking out a construction to have a PVC construction that I shove in the front rod-holders (like extension tubes) and have a cross-bar over the deck. This way my reels are IN the yak instead of hanging above water and, not less important, the rods are closer to me. I find the front rod holders on my Stealth 14 too far away from me.
I will make and post some pictures of the project. _________________ =================================

That is not true. Some of us are old and have no money or time. |

Since Jim and I are about the same age, I think I can get away with this, esp after Sunburn suggested it
Speaking of Jim Day, I have never seen anything he has done, that would come remotely close to being able to call it Jerry rigged. When it comes to thinking things through, mentally engineering them, taking explicit photos, and sharing it on these boards in a way that explains it in such detail that my mother could duplicate it, Jim is the Ph.D of customizing.
Yeah yeah yeah, Jim, I know, you have no idea how to respond to accolades. So why don't you just not respond; just sit back and smile (I'm 100% serious when I say this). |
