What? you can't make just a itsy, witsy sacrafice for more starfish, and gee, just all the cute things the MLPA will save. What's the matter with you, you selfish brute? After those MLPA mommas pinned me on the stairs and put this little device in my head, I understand what they're saying. It's all so clear.
Jeeze, did you hear me beefing with those blue shirts in the parking lot? They almost gang banged me with their bull crap. They hate it when you call them on their lies. One MPAs Work! woman told me the Packard Foundation spends an equal amount of money supporting the fishermen! Heard that one yet? Or, "just believe the scientists, they're impartial!" (except when they're paid by a bunch of fu*kwads.)
Jefferson Wagner, one of the councilmen, jokeingly said, I'm sure we're all ready to flip everybody off and just fish regardless of the MPA closure at Dume. He implied to just FU*K IT and fish, you poor helpless shitz. He did not commit to pay the fine though. He had this look on his face that said, "Suck it up, loser!"
Anyway, thanks for showing up and representing as well as all you other kayak jockeys. I got a bad feeling we're gonna lose Dume. Will it stop my fishing? Hell NO!! I've already convinced most the fish to move somewhere else anyway. Let them wallow in their starfish excrement...

It's a very complicated process that is suppose to be impartial and objective. Spreading it out over the course of several months so that the MLPA beast can take the necessary time to consider the impact per region and maybe, just maybe, learn more about the science, or lack there of, throughout the process.
I think this lengthy period has only lent itself to more opportunity for corruption, backroom meetings, and secret handshakes. An unfortunate residual effect is these shady bonds and relationships that are developing on the environmental business end of things. Relationships that may have never been started if it weren't for the common ground/interest some of these groups and shady policy makers share.
Yep and again I hate to say it, but I strongly think the MLPA has worked much like a power networking conference - putting likeminds with common enviro interests with those who can profit financially and politically from radical closures. It's done a great job at putting self serving enviro socialists together with wealthy elitists and biologists whose salaries are funded by either a fiscally strapped state, enviro grants, or enviro endowments.

pissed I couldn't make it last night...last minute family issues.
jas is right. this process is the perfect example of government corruption and abuse of power. the tragedy in all this is that some feel they have a right to destroy the liberties of others.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. this process is tyranny. it is inimical to the very notion of a free people enjoying liberties without fear of intervention or persecution from government.
what amazes me, well not any more really, is that the press hasn't caught on to this. private monies funding expropriation of lands through the power of the state. imagine if this were oil companies, those same blue shirt idiots would be outraged.
this is pure evil, pure tyranny. welcome to the soviet union guys. _________________

Well after last nights meeting, I'm simply convinced, I'm gonna climb on board in a big way. Considering that the MLPA language states that walking, swimming, boating, and diving may be restricted, I think that all of the beach area, including private beach area, should be permanently closed to these activities in-order to protect marine life such as grunion, and seals that need these areas to procreate; not to mention those starfish.
This whole thing is just sickening, I need to go puke again now.
