Idea I've been asked a few times what the best way was for installing these. The install is pretty basic. Select the right area (see install) and don't mess up cutting out the 2" hole which the dash style flushmout compass slips into. Click the link below for the step by step install.

I have one of those set up in my kayak, nice and out of the way, and the install is a breeze. Have not set up the night light wiring yet, plan to try and get to it one of these days. Any suggestions?

Yo Tman,
How's it going?
Besides it being a useful function at night or predawn, the compass looks really cool with the light on. I hooked mine up to a toggle switch and run it off of my sonar battery.

What up Jason-
So where did you mount the toggle switch at? I have thought of doing that, like the idea. Still trying to figure out a way to wire in to the battery box for the FF, was thinking of splicing into the line, kind of like a bypass. Any suggestions? I've got the same compass, except with the purple face. Will send you a rigged pic soon. Sorry I missed the last event, flu kicked my ass. Will be at the next one.

Thanks.

Tman,

I connect the compass light directly to the sonar battery as opposed to bypassing the sonar battery cables. I just want the toggle to control the light, not the sonar. The toggle is inside my hatches to prevent too much saltwater splash. I may do a dash install for my next toggle install so I can turn the light on and off without having to open my hatch.

Cool jas
