Hooped with two new hoopers last night, Patrick and John.
We got on the water about 5:30pm., with Bonito in the cages and high hopes...After Saturday mornings rain the weather cleared up beautifully, it was flat calm, no wind. It was Patrick's first time in a kayak, so i put him in the aircraft carrier, the Cobra Fish and Dive. He did great, even with 4 nets in the front of his yak as we paddled out. The Bugs never really got crawling. Only 2 for the night, realy slow.Crying or Very sad The Pusses was out though. John had 2 big octopus in his net at one time and there were the usual suspects... small Calico, small Rock Crabs, lots of Conchs, swimmer crabs and a couple of Seals. One big Spider that clung to the net just long enough to let Patrick think in might land in his lap. He was pretty supprised at how big they can get and the size of their claws too! Shocked
We stayed out untill about 9:30pm. when somebody flicked the weather switch, and the wind picked up and the rain started to come down pretty steadily. the last round of pulls was pretty misserable and the guys were having a hard time setting up on the floats, although John did manage his only Bug of the night on his last pull.
No pictures. The camera is in the shop. I hope they get it out in time for Jason's Tournament.
Those Rock Crabs from CIH the other day made a really good omlette this morning. The claws from 3 of them made a couple of great breakfasts. They are a lot of work to clean, but worth it! Wink
30 days left in the Lobster season....... Crying or Very sad
