I went out Monday with a buddy of mine from NCKA, JTFISHING and I hooked up at Half Moon Bay at 7:30 on Monday morning. It started off with a cool breeze but the swell wasn't bad 1-3 feet. Very manageable. We laid our rings and traps quick like about half mile out from the harbour. First ring, first pull first legal keeper a 6 1/4 Dunhgy. Awesome this is a good sign...right? No not really I went cold right after that. I was getting plenty of undersized ones but no more keepers. JT wasn't getting that much. We change positions and try another spot. One ring has small ones the other nothing...hmm strange (more on that later). Wind starts picking up and so is the swell now it is in the 3-4 feet and slack tide is over. I am having a rough morning as my stomach is not enjoying this, when it happens, I feed the fish. Terrible newbie expierence. I haven't done that since I was kid after a McDonalds Milkshake, and hell I was 8 then. Streak is now broken. I try for a little while longer but the combo of wind, upset stomach and just wanting to go take a shower overwhelm me. JT stays on and catches two more but not much else. Released were two legal Rockies, one for each of us. As for why one net got nothing...the bait bag was hiding a hole about 5 inches in diameter that I didn't notice till I got home. Some net repair is do. Total of five between us. Till next time. _________________ A bad day of fishing still beats a good day at work!
