Mr Magu
The reflective tape I talked about on the show is called Conspicuity Tape or DOT tape. It's used mostly on semi-truck type of trailers.
If you do a google search you'll find all kinds of suppliers for the tape. It's usually about a buck a foot in bulk, and comes in various sizes but usually in 1" or 2" width by anywhere from10' to 150' in length.
If you need just a couple of feet you can get it at Boaters World and a few of the tackle stores carry it too.

Thanks again Jim.
I also found this stuff....looks like it was made just for us as it has other uses as well.
3M 3150A SOLAS (Safety Of Life At Sea) reflective tape is U.S.Coast Guard approved (SPECIFICATIONS). SOLAS tape is specifically designed to enhance the visibility of life jackets, ring buoys, survival suits, inflatable life rafts, lifeboats, navigational buoys, channel markers, dayboards, and similar equipment used in marine environments. This tape is highly flexible and adheres to rubber-coated cloth, vinyl-nylon laminated cloth, cured polester cloth, PVC, and aluminum. SOLAS tape is excellent for other outerwear applications such as motorcycle jackets and raingear.

I ordered mine online from Identi-tape.com it is a bit pricey, but it is really bright when your lights hits it. I have it an all ten hoop's buoys as glow sticks are even more expensive when you hoop a lot. The white is by far the brightest, but a lot of guys use that color so I put a second green strip on my buoys. Now I have no problem identifying them from far away.
I’m so excited for the opener,
Todd

Try freezing the light sticks after a night of hooping. I can usually get two trips out of the 6" ones if I freeze them right away.
It really helps to light those floats if you're working a heavily traveled area. Even with light sticks I still see a lot of knuckle-heads motor right through an area full of hoopnets.
The tape works great on the bouys. You can cut the tape in any shape you want to customize your floats...stripes, round or square dots, triangles...whatever! If you're using the big Promar floats be sure to add some tape to the flat end too.
It's also a good idea to mark your floats with your name or your boats name and your CF #s.

Just a few tips from prior experience Idea -

The SOLAS tape is incredible. BUT, the tape will eventually start peeling off the floats, regardless of what the seller claims. What I'm planning to do once mine get real bad is to peel them off and use 3M 77 Spray on the tape. 77 sticks just about anything to foam for good.

If you're trying to make stickers stick to polyethylene, 3M 90 Spray will work. Also, 3M adhesive promoter will work. It's a sponge that you rub on the PE before you put the sticker on. With both it'll take scraping with a razor blade before it comes off.

77 & 90 are available at home depot. The adhesive promoter is online (google for it).
