That's a good idea Andy.
Did you mount that on the Stealth 12?

Very creative
Looks like it would be low on drag as well.
Good thinking… |

Bing, that is the wire seal we use those on Eagle/Cuda/Lowrance stuff.
For Hummingbird we usually use the clams. I found this today for an install. Not much room to work with on the Stealth 12, this looks clean.

I have a color????
Nice Work Andy.
Very cool. Is the lower bolt only in the strap or does it go through the wall of the scupper.
I actually played with a similar design a "push in" one that was mounted on a tube of pvc that I could just push into the scupper from below and it would stay there.
My only concern with that type install is the transducer sticks down some and if you snag rock landing. it could possibly damage the scupper.
Looks like your eagle transducer fits in there far better then my Garmin's.
I had to enlarge the channel with a heat gun to get it in there.
Looks very nice. If you ever need any metal or anything I have a ton of scrap aluminum in the shop.
Sure beats the hell out of hanging it over the side or off the stern.

Looks good.
With my Garmins I drill the hole for the wire right under the mount location then use disc of 1/2 neoprene (technically stiff rubber foam) under the mount to seal the hole. the trick is cutting a little notch in the foam for where the wires run.
I put a little silicone on the wires, line everything up, tighten it down and it seals and conforms to both the wires and shape of the hull when I tighten the bases mounting screws down on the foam. |

Thanks for the response Andy. great stuff. I was not aware you had such an extensive store online. very good prices too. Will be checking it out when I need stuff.
As an aside, are you going to be a Fred Hall this year? I'd be great to see some of the work you guys have been doing up close.

Bing,
We will be at FH, our booth is going to be HUGE! We've reserved an extra 600 square feet this year and will have WS, Hobie, OK and Malibu kayaks 23 different kayaks, and all our accessories. Brent, CJ, from OEX Pt Loma, Rik from OEX Kearney Mesa, Drew and Nate from OEX Oceanside and me will be manning the booth. Hope to see you there! _________________ Fish hard today.......work hard tomorrow |

i wish the X-13 would have been made with a larger channel like that. that beats the hell outta going through the scupper like i did. nice work.

How much did you enlarge the channel? I still feel funny messing with the shape of the kayak with a heat gun, but I'd love to make my transducer fit a little more snug up under the hull. |

You don't want to do that. If your going to keep your current transducer you should instead make some sort fairing block, or take it to Andy and see what he can do for you, as I'm sure he'll come up with an interesting solution.
I can get way with such things because I already know a bit about working with plastic but it's not a good idea if your new to it.

Yea...problem is that I'm in Texas and no one here messes with customizations of that nature. Pardon my ignorance, but what do you mean about adding a fairing block? What would that do/solve?
I think I'm gonna give it a shot how I have it. I don't think there will be too much drag with that transducer. I'll be able to paddle it tomorrow with and without so I'll know for sure then. |

This is how I mounted a humminbird. Everything is under the base. The hole is sealed by a stopper.

You could get a piece of aluminum like that from Home Depot. I think I'm going to install my transducer in the same fashion on my X-Factor. _________________ Benny

The item senor used to run the wires into the kayak is know as a cord grip and you can get them in a liquid tight form. used for outdoor applications. _________________ Perception sports Pescador 12 |

| Hey Bing , I just picked up a Hummingbird 570 . I like the way you Mounted yours ( VERY CLEAN ) . I'm new to rigging a Kayak and am not sure what you mean by a stopper . Is it a scupper plug you drilled out to fit the wires? I would really like to do mine the same way . |
