New memeber, I finally got the nerve and time off to head out of Half Moon Bay for some Dungeness. I went out on Jan 2, and scored 20 with 4 keepers. I had a blast and have since had the bite of the Madness. I read all the NCKA stuff I could get a hold of to include ChuckE's posts up here, watched every you tube video I could find and came across a Sabaslayer article. The next time I had a day off I went back out to HMB, and tried the cooking oil Saba suggests. It was crazy after that, every pull had from 10-20 crabs in it. The score for the day was well over a hundred in 30-40 feet of water. Bad part was out of a hundred +, I had two keeper Dungenss and 6 Rockies. But as there is only two of us, that was dinner. Anything over 2 is a bonus! Heading to Doran this weekend for the Crab Chill event, looking to have a great time with the NCKA crew! Sorry no pics, I have a phobia of camera's on the water ever since I lost one in a river in Texas. _________________ A bad day of fishing still beats a good day at work!

Follow up to the Crabfest at Doran Beach. I wne t up with a friend to the evnet and scouted it out on Saturday. He hit one area and I hit the Jetty area. I was working the Rock Crabs and he was after Dungy's. We wanted to see which work out better for Sunday's tournament. I caught maybe a dozen or so in 2 hours, and kept a couple that were above average size. He caught one legal Dungy. We got permission to leave our Kayak with Vwool who is an NCKA member and tournament orginizer. The weather was poerfect with little swell and no wind.
Sunday was a different story. The wind was whipping hard from the south and was blowing me and my hobbie quest all over the place. Chopw as up as well. I laid out traps and first pull had 10 undersized Dungies. That would be the best haul of the day for me, I had to really work to stay out there, and kept trying different locations but by 11:00 I packed it in and called it a day. I got one legal rock crab for the day. The winning Rock crab was over 6.25 inches, and the winning Dungeness was over 7.30 inches. On the plus side my buddy caught 7 legal dungeness and a respectible rock crab in 5.5 inch range.
Now the fun began with a huge feast of food, from Frogmore stew, tempura, pizza, crabs, deserts of every kind, bbq this that and anything else. Than came the raffle, I for one never expect to win, but I won a 7 foot Ugly stick from Sports Authority (thanks Guys!). Buddy took home a t-shirt. Had a blast at this years fest! _________________ A bad day of fishing still beats a good day at work!
