Hello out there,
This forum seems to be dead in the water. I am hoping to put some spark back into it.
I have some fishing tips that I hope can save you from having to buy fancy equipment you may not need on your kayak.
Example: Tie a knot in your anchor line every five feet (5') so when you drop your anchor to the bottom you only need to count each knot on the way down to tell how deep the water is... Simple but effective, no need for depth finders.
Here is another way you can use that same anchor line. Use it as a down rigger system. Simply set your fishing line to a rigger clip, which is attached to one of the knots on the anchor line and drop your anchor to the depth you want to fish, then tie off your anchor to the kayak rail line and begin trolling.
What do you think of these tips?

Don't like the idea at all. Anchor could hang and flip you in a heart beat
1st Save your money get a fish finder. Less the $75
2 Use your fishing rod that has a jig on it
(should have one always rigged)
See how much line your reel picks up with one rotation of the handle. count the turns when you bring it off the bottom.. wa-la that's
how deep the water is..
3 Use a big BIG jig for your down rigger and snap onto that with another lure... Wa-La Fish !!
