It's hard enough for me to find time to get onthe water, so I satisfy the need by making my own rods. A lot of what I have done have been gifts over the past 15 or so years, but I have started making some for myself. Here's some pix:
These are the four most recent. Keep in mind that I am full amateur & basically go with the flow of what moves me at the moment. More detailed pix below:
Far Right, Graphite USA. Lesson learned - flex coat over the writing. This is my go-to 30# stick
Another lesson learned is that using the reflective thread is a GOOD THING, especially if you send this stick to the bottom in 105 feet of water. Dive master on the Islander got it back real quick from the reflection off the silver thread
Second from right is my bounce baller. I used a Pacific Bay panga blank for this as I like my line dragging 1# of lead to be closer to the yak rather than far away, diminishing the 3stroke one side, 1 stroke the other.
Second from left is a Seeker Blue Lightening made in the wrong color so I got a GREAT buy on it. But since it doesn't match my normal color scheme I had to do a radical departure.
This is great with a Torium 14.
9" Jigstick.
Pix really do not do it justice, but that new penny copper on the burgundy blank really works.
Most recent - and in need of one more coat of flex coat - Shikari 7" triggerstick
While my rod building is getting better I still write like a 3rd grader
As I said, the creativity can wander
So, while I have not been able to spend as much time on teh water, I have been spending some garage time under the influence of my , uh, influences
TV is hooked up to Directv for tunes & fridge is stocked with MY motivation

I have a power wrapper but rarely use it. For these I used jigs I made out of scrap plywood.
For a drying motor I fitted an old rotisserie with a scrap piece of wood using a washer & wood screw to hold it in the motor and a pvc cap with 3 thumbscrews to secure the butt of the rod
