This tournament report and pictures were sent in by Durbin, South African native Rhyno Lumbaard. This event is held annually and is open to all kayak anglers from around the globe.

Cool jas

The competition was called The Guinjata Jestki vs Fishinski Challenge.
Only one person per vessel.
It was the 1st competion of its kind that I am aware of and we had 26 entries which consisted of 13 jetskis and 13 fishingskis ( Fishingkayaks)
I do not have all the statististics as yet ,but if you are interested I could forward them and other photo's to you.
The competition was base on a Gamefish specie classing where at the end of the tournament the total weight of fish was multiplied by the nuber of different species caught.
The winner was on a fishingkayak and the 2nd and 3rd were on jetskis.
The tournament was also filmed by our Supersport Camera crew and would be screened on Supersport on 23 November 2004 (Digital Satelite TV....South Africa)
One Marlin and one Sailfish were lost by fishing kayaks.
Kind Regards,
Rhyno Lumbaard

Rhyno Lombaard weighing in Day 2 - 2 X 8 kg Couta

Rhyno Lumbaard and the 2nd largest fish of the tournament - 15.45 kg Couta

They look like Kings.

What do they mean by Jetski? Do they mean people fishing from PWC?

The South Africans I've met are extreme to say the least. I'd love to see more pics.

If not a King, for sure it's a cousin. BIG MACKS wild in Durban.
