well, about two weeks ago i stopped by andy's shop and picked up 2 mini-x's. For those of you who are looking to get a yak, give andy a call, cuz he takes great care of his customers =). Gave a great deal on the yaks and fixed one with a leaking plug.

So far, been out in the ocean 2 times with the yaks and have caught naaadaaa ><. i've been fishing fresh water for years and had little problem on the piers and docks, but man, this is a new one to figure out so far. lauched once south of the long beach breakwall and the 2nd next to andy's shop. Nice area =)

What the heck's the usual lure weight that you guys are using? I fully understand the need for a fishfinder now XD. Well, I searched a bit and found that the closest kelp spot seems to be horseshoe, so maybe me n my cuz will take a swing over there this coming sunday.

Oh yea, thanks alot robmandel, those 30 dollar car racks from pepboys work great! holding 2 yaks with a 4 pack of straps from target for 15 bucks and stays glued to my car at over 80mph.

If anyone's yaking for anything around Long beach, santa monica, or around the area, i'm looking to join =)

In HH I like 6-8 pound test and small swimbaits 3-3 1/2 inch, smelt and anchovie 1/4-3/8 leadhead. Spinnerbaits in 1/2oz+ in white and chartreuse on 10#-12#. Yozuri Crystal minnows and shap raps and fat free shad, frenzys for crank baits.

Ghost shrimp works really well. Next time launch off of Countess DR, the fishing is way better on the north end of the harbor. Fish the moving water, slack tide really can shut things down.

Persistence will reward you with great stories to tell.

glad to help with the car rack.

just keep getting out there. you'll figure it out. best thing is to find guys who know an area and hook up with them.

Good example this morning fished HH 6:30-8:30 AM

Hoping for a bonefish.

2 yellowfin croaker and a sandie on ghost shrimp, every other shrimp was a missed biter and zero fish on plastic and Kroc.........slack high tide.

dang, so i guess it's really tough to get a micro jig down to the bottom then? I wanna try sticking to plastics, but seems like the salt water guys might be pickier in terms of bait..

As of late, the stores seem to carry less of the tried-n-true plastic jigs and such that have worked for years...

Guess i'll make a DIY live baitwell and try trying my own screwy baits and see how well that works.
