Having collected several kayaks and awaiting for another I decided to build a yak rack that will support 4 kayaks. The yak rack is a roll away type for ease of moving the kayak from the garage to load it on the truck. After some research I found out that less than $100, it could be done as a weekend project.
Materials needed
Rack towers 2” x 6” x 6 feet 2 each
Tower base supports 2 for each towers 4 required 2 x 6x 3ft
Tower main frame 2 x 6 x 8 ft 1 each
Rack braces 2 x 4 x 8ft 3 each
Caster wheels 4 each
Log bolts for mounting the caster wheels 3/8” x 2” long 4 each
Ply wood 3/4” exterior grade water resistant. For tower arms to support kayak
Bolts for mounting tower arms 3/8”x 3” (12), flat washer (16) nuts (12)
Log bolts (4 ) each, 3/8” x 2” long for mounting the bottom rack arms.
Galvanized wood screws 2 pounds 3 inch long
Construction preparation
Starting with the tower base support, take one of the 2 x 6x 3ft , measure 24” from one end and mark it, This mark will be the center of the tower when mounted perpendicular. Cut a groove as shown in the photo, 3/4” deep by 5-1/2 wide (same with of the tower) so that the groove is centered to the mark previously made. Do the same to all 4 tower base.
Braces
Cut 2 each 2 x 4 x 4ft braces , 6 each 2 x 4 x 16”, 2 each 2 x 4 x 13”.
Yak rack arms 8 each arms at 28” long cut according to the template.

I just found out you have to be logged in to myspace for the link to work.
Yes that's true. Also for some reason the top link from your post won't work with my myspce account but the one I put up for all your picture galleries does. Great pictures... You've definitely caught some nice C-bass Johnny.
