It looks like we are moving to Hingham (Crows point area) so I could REALLY use help on where to launch, fish and what species of fish are out there. Looks like I will using a Hobie Adventure instead of the new OK Trident as it may be a lot easier to get to the islands I see on the map.
All help is GREATLY appreciated as we are moving from Westlake Village, Ca which is close to Malibu.
George,
You will have an abundance of locations from which to launch near Crow Point in Hingham. There are at least 8-10 prime fishing spots within a 15 minute paddle from a launch near Crow Point. And some really good spots even closer. All the islands in Hingham Harbor hold fish. Ragged, Sarah, Langlee, Slate, Grape, Spinnaker and even Button are all islands within easy reach. You can also get to the Weymouth Back River in about 20 minutes of paddling. The bass chase the herring up the river. You can launch from North Beach (right at the bottom of the hill in Crow Point), the Hingham Bathing Beach and World's End. You could also drive into Hull (next town over) and launch from numerous other places.
You'll find Stripers and Blues in abundance right now. Big bass continue to rule from Hull to Hingham and out to Quincy Bay. The pogies are extremely skittish for obvious reasons and are not as apparent as earlier in the season. Instead, they are appearing like a dark cloud below the surface of the water, not like flapping fish.
Grab a map and look at Hingham Bay and Hull Bay. You'll find all the fishing you'll need there.
For some shore casting, the jetty next to the Hingham Yacht Club can sometimes produce good fish and Hull Gut is always a good option for chunking bait.
FYI, I live in Hingham (about 1/2 mile from Crow Point) and have fished these waters for more than 10 years (1st year from a yak though).
Get here soon though...the fish are beginning their migration.
Thanks, we are trying to get there ASAP as we are searching for a rental. I may be going down in a few weeks again to look around. If you or anyone hears or sees a rental that is 2+ bedrooms and accpts small dogs please PM me as I would greatly appreciate it.
Will do, George. FYI, there are some very modest converted summer cottage type units on Kilmer Road in the Crow Point section of town. Hull has lots of rental units as well and is only a couple miles away.
