hello all,
im looking for a good fish finder and i narrowed it down to 2 models

1 Eagle FishEasy® 250 Sonar

240x240-pixel 4.5 display

1,500 watts peak-to-peak power.

83/200kHz Dual beams produce up to 120° of fish-finding
coverage

or the

2 Humminbird PiranhaMAX 240 TriBeam Sonar

240V x 160H, 4" LCD

800-ft. depth capability. 1,600 watts peak-to-peak.

Widest coverage Tri-Beam with two 35° and 20° beams - 90º
total.

All suggestions welcome
Pete

fwiw, I am also on a fishfinder hunt and just settled on and ordered the piranhamax 220. It's dual beam and doesn't have as wide of coverage, but in reality I'm most concerned about seeing the bottom for structure than trying to see fish off to my left or right. Everything I've read indicates that actually identifying fish is more of a crap shoot, and the real benefit to these units is finding the place fish like to hide. I really like the form factor of the piranhamax series, and it doesn't seem worth the extra $40 (40% price increase, I paid $95 shipped) for the 240. The only real benefit I see is on the 240 is that fish symbols pointed to the right are off the right side of the boat, and symbols pointed left are to the left side. But again, I believe most of the fish you catch are going to be out of the sonars "view", anyway.

Besides, I don't want to take ALL the surprise and skill out of it!
